NTCL selling off properties

Several properties owned by Northern Transportation Company Ltd. will be up for sale soon, according to a company representative.
Bert Vanderperk, corporate controller for NTCL, said that the main property that will be listed with Coldwell Bankers is the main administrative building near Porritt Landing.
He also said that there will likely be several other properties to be sold.

“The move of administrative functions to Edmonton prompted the property sale,” said Vanderperk. “The actual listing will probably happen in the near future. It requires a process – final board approval and assembling of the information needed to put it up for sale.”
The head office in Hay River has been shut down and moved to Edmonton to allow NTCL to run a little easier.
“It is just making the administrative side of the business run smoothly,” said Vanderperk.
He added that “a significant portion of NTCL’s business is based in Hay River” and that the community will continue to play an important role for the company.
NTCL cut eight local administrative positions in February, due to the decreased revenue coming from the Mackenzie River route.
The Hay River-Mackenzie River route originally generated 100 per cent of NTCL’s revenue, but as of 2009 only accounted for 16 per cent.
The rest is being generated by the West Coast route, which makes NWT and Nunavut deliveries from Richmond, B.C.
