Hundreds of Hay Riverites lined Woodland Drive on Nov. 29 to watch the annual kickoff to the town’s festive season.
The Santa Claus Parade made its way along Woodland from Royal Road to NorthMart in relatively warm winter weather.
It featured floats put together for the occasion by community groups, businesses and politicians.
The parade was led by Mayor Andrew Cassidy and town councillors, all garbed in festive outfits including reindeer horns. And, of course, Santa Claus himself also made an appearance.
“It was a great start to the Christmas season this year,” said Travis Darling, a recreation programmer with the Town of Hay River and one of the organizers of the parade. “There’s lots more to come.”
