After months of planning and recruiting, the Northern Transport Boats Project Society is now running sessions in the Northern Transport carpentry shop Monday and Wednesday nights.

The society aims to teach young people about trades, local history and culture by refurbishing boats donated by NTCL. Participants can test the waters with job skills and general shop experience, and listen to stories about how people in Hay River and the NWT as a whole have used waterways as a means of sustenance, transportation, and industry since the beginning of human habitation in the area.
