A group of children took an intrepid journey to the East Channel of the Hay River earlier this month to learn about ice fishing as part of an outing with the Nature Club.
“It was really great to be out there with them,” said organizer and co-ordinator Kim Rapati of Ecology North. “We didn’t catch any fish but they seemed to have a good time anyway.”
While most of the excursion was spent learning about fishing, Rapati said the highlight for many of the participants seemed to be the sled ride behind a snowmobile to get to and from the net.
