Hub wins national newspaper award

Your community newspaper has been recognized with another national newspaper award.
The Hub was announced as a recipient of a Blue Ribbon for General Excellence by the Canadian Community Newspaper Association when they announced the finalists for the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards on March 14.
According to the CCNA, a Blue Ribbon is given to any newspaper “that deserves recognition for excellence, as determined by the … judges.”

The Hub last won a Blue Ribbon Award in 2005, with the last award win at the Community Newspaper Awards coming in 2009.
This year, 2,363 entries were submitted by 250 newspapers from across the country. The entries were reviewed by a team of 72 judges.
Winners will be announced at an awards gala, which will be held in Vancouver at the annual Ink+Beyond conference and trade show.

New website and features!

The webpage team at the Hay River Hub would like to thank everyone for their patience. We finally made it to the finish line, with a modern website that we take pride in. First and foremost, we made the navigation easier, and the Download section is now easier to access – just check out the link in the navigation menu. We are maintaining a Community Calendar displaying the current and the upcoming events in Hay River (check it out, it’s cool and interactive!) and the subscription process has been improved as well – you can set up your own username and password if you’re a new subscriber or when you’re renewing your online subscription. (Sorry existing online users, you’ll have to do with the old usernames for the remainder of your subscribed year.)

And since Facebook is the word today, yes, we officially launched our Facebook page. Come “like” us and stay up to date with the latest happening @ the Hub in Hay River!

Website menu changes

In order to serve you better we have implemented a direct contact system on our website. The About / Contact menu is now a drop-down list. Hold the mouse over the title and a set of sub-menus will appear. You then can select the specific department you wish to contact, by clicking on the title of interest, and a webpage will load with a contact form that will allow you to directly e-mail the person / department you want to get in touch with.
