Instructions
Thank you for bearing with us during our website makeover. You will receive or have received the password to access the subscribers’ downloads section in an automated activation e-mail.
Please note that the website is still under development – some minor bugs are inherent. If that is the case, please e-mail web at hayriverhub dot com with your concerns.
The activation e-mail contains the following lines:
Username: name@email.server
Password: ########
http://www.hayriverhub.com/wp-login.php
If you are a subscriber of The Hub, it is likely that you have received the activation e-mail. Before calling us, please check your Spam / Junk folder in your e-mail – some mail servers redirect activation messages as Spam if configured default.
If you know what you are doing, you can click on the link contained in the e-mail and follow the steps to change your password. If you are unsure, please read below.
PLEASE NOTE:
- unfortunately we could not retain your old passwords. They no longer work. We have rebuilt the website from scratch and there was no way we could save the old log in data.
- it is advisable to read throughout this entire tutorial before proceeding. It is also advisable to print it and/or save it when possible.
- your username is the e-mail address where you are receiving the initial message (i.e. your_name@email.server.com or yourname@server.ca).
- you MUST follow the instructions in this tutorial and change your password within 48 hours from receiving your activation e-mail. While we can accommodate the occasional honest mistake, we do not have either the time or the manpower to change / reset every subscriber’s password, should they forget to change their passwords and their accounts stop working. Thank you for your understanding.
Password change steps:
Upon accessing www.hayriverhub.com you will be presented with a log in / password section on the first page. PLEASE DISREGARD IT THE FIRST TIME YOU CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. Instead of using it scroll down (1) at the very bottom of the page. YOU ONLY NEED TO DO THIS ONCE, WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD.

Once at the bottom of the page, locate the smaller “Log In” link in the footer and click it (2).

Upon clicking on the small “Log In” link at the bottom, you will be presented with the account administration access panel. Here you will enter your e-mail address as the username and the password you received from us (3).
If the e-mail and password have been entered correctly, you will be able to access the account administration interface. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS. Scroll down to the bottom (4).

Once at the bottom, you will find the fields for your new password (5). Type the SAME password in BOTH fields. The website will prompt you if you haven’t entered the SAME password. Passwords have to be 7 characters or more. Also, passwords are CASE SENSITIVE – AbCdE is NOT the same password as aBcDe. Please choose your password carefully.

Once you have entered your new password, click “Update Profile” (6). The website will reload. If you have followed all steps correctly, you will now be able to scroll up again (7).
From there, click on “Visit Site” (8).

The website will now say “You are currently logged in” (A) instead of the Log In fields on the first page. You can view the website as before, but now you will have access to the Latest Edition (current issue) and Last Year’s Archive (past issues) in the Downloads section (B).

When you are done downloading, and/or ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON A PUBLIC COMPUTER (i.e. at the library or someone else’s computer), it is strongly advised to log out from the website. This prevents unauthorised users from downloading content that you or your organization are paying for. To do so, scroll again at the very bottom of the site, locate the Log Out link (C) and click on it.

The next time you are logging into the Hub’s website, you can use the Log In form on the front page (9). This will make it easier for you as it skips the administrative panel and instead just logs you on the website while presenting you with the front page. Also, if you are using a public computer it is strongly advised to uncheck the “Remember me” box (10) so that your password will not be left on the computer for other users.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Should you have any technical questions, please contact the website administrator at web at hayriverhub dot com. We hope you will have a pleasant experience with our new website.
Sincerely,
the staff at The Hub, Hay River’s community newspaper
