The 23 year-old Green is competing in his first Olympic Games and is coming off a first place finish in the IBU cup 10 km sprint race in Martel, Italy on Feb. 12 and a fourth place finish in the 12.5 km pursuit race the next day.
Green and his Canadian teammates will be competing in the men’s 4 x 7.5 km relay on Friday at 12:30 p.m.
As of Monday night officials were still putting the finishing touches on a plan to show the race on the big screen at the Riverview Cineplex.
“We’re really trying to pull it all together”, April Glaicar, one of the event organizers, said late Monday. “It’s an opportunity to pull behind Brennie.”
If the event does go ahead, admission will be a minimum $20 donation, and will be on a first come, first served basis. The donation will cover a medium popcorn and pop. The remainder will be donated to Green for this training.
“He’s a great guy. He’s worked hard for it,” Glaicar explained. “He deserves it.”
The Hub will be taking a town icture at 11 a.m. on Friday.
