Christmas came early for shop students at Diamond Jenness Secondary School. Two representatives from Finning, the Caterpillar equipment dealer, brought some second-hand tools to the school on Tuesday. Three tool boxes were unloaded from the back of a pickup, each filled with basic tools that came from one of their shops at a mine site.

Educational leadership at Hay River’s schools will be undergoing some major changes this fall. Diamond Jenness’s current principal, Paul Theriault, will no longer be leading the school as of June 2011. Theriault said that it is difficult for him to be leaving, as working at Diamond Jenness has been an ideal position for him.

Hay River soccer players kicked off their indoor season with a tournament at Diamond Jenness Secondary School this past weekend. The tournament hosted around 120 students in three age divisions. J.J. Hirst, outdoor education co-ordinator, said it was a great weekend for soccer players to test their skills in all areas of the game.
