This past weekend was the Hay River Golf Club’s first annual $10,000 Shootout. Seventy-four golfers had the opportunity to play 36 holes over a two day span in hopes of getting a hole in one. The tournament was played in a two-person best ball format, and each hole had a $10,000 hole in one prize.

This year’s slo-pitch season is shaping up to be bigger and better, with new teams and a new executive, the league’s outgoing president said last week. Angela Haley-Carter said 10 teams have expressed interest in playing in the Hay River Mixed Slo-Pitch League this year, up one from last year’s nine teams.
