Hay River soccer players kicked off their indoor season with a tournament at Diamond Jenness Secondary School this past weekend. The tournament hosted around 120 students in three age divisions. J.J. Hirst, outdoor education co-ordinator, said it was a great weekend for soccer players to test their skills in all areas of the game.

This year marked the second annual Fort Smith Slopitch Tournament, and the turnout far surpassed that of the inaugural year. This year 14 teams registered for the event, over twice the number of last year’s six. Teams travelled from across the NWT and even Alberta to take part in the weekend long tournament.
The Hay River Rusty Blades held their second annual Best Ball Golf Tournament this past weekend. A warm clear day on Saturday provided ideal golfing conditions for the 48 registered players.
